"Hey, Jenny. Me and Kevin are going to race on Mickey and Jewel, but we're worried that Mickey is at a disadvantage because he's old, so we thought we'd give Jewel a handicap of a little extra weight. Want to ride her with me and be that extra weight?"
Jenny
*smiles* "Yes."
Samuel, Kevin, Jenny, Mickey, and Jewel
*on the trails racing*
Samuel
*loses balance and tumbles off of Mickey, land on arm, hear a crack, and feel a sharp pain*
Mickey
*halt*
Jenny
*look behind me* "Kevin, stop. Samuel's hurt."
Kevin, Jenny, and Jewel
*slow down, turn around, and go to him*
Samuel
*tries not to cry* "Get help."
Kevin
*turn around in the saddle, pick Jenny up, set her down on the ground* "stay here and make sure Mickey doesn't follow me*
Jenny
*grab onto Mickey's reins*
Kevin and Jewel
*gallop back, and arrive back home**
Kevin
*scream* "Help!" *wish that my mom and Mr. Whites hadn't gone to get hay, and realizing why only I'm allowed to ride when mom's not here, and wondering why we decided to break that rule*

Runs out when I hear the scream runs over to the kids* What happend

*explain on the way out to Samuel, Jenny, and Mickey* "We broke the rules and went riding when my mom wasn't home, and Kevin fell and got hurt."
Samuel
*starts to cry a bit, but keeps on trying to hold the tears back*
Jenny
*scared*

Oh well didn't y'all to be out her y'all know the rules Samuel i guess I'm bout to take you to the hospital Bc I am not doctor and don't know nothing about broke bones this is why we have rules in place people so things like this don't happen! Get up and let's go to the hospital it's ya arms that's broke not your legs

*struggles, but get's up*
Jenny and Kevin
*gasp, now having a better view on his broken arm*

Alright I guess y'all coming with us bc no other adults are here

"Okay. We'll hurry back so we don't hold you too up while we're putting the horses away." *reach down, pick up Jenny, lift her onto Mickey's back because she's too little to mount him from the ground*
Kevin, Jenny, Mickey, and Jewel
*canter back*

*dismount, start untacking*

Come to the car when you done *gets. The rest of the kids that were in the house in the car and wait on the others to finish with the horses

*slowly get into car, really trying not to cry now that all of the other kids are here*
Kevin and Jenny
*turn horses out, and then get into the car*
Amber
*follow he other children into the car, wondering what is going on*

*as everyone gets in and buckled up I start driving* listen up kids does anyone know why we have rules in place? *deciding to have this conversation on the way to the hospital*

"I don't know. I would have fallen weather Ms. Womzie were here or not."

"Did we break a rule?"

"Yeah. The one about not riding when my mom's not home."
Jenny
"I thought it was okay, since you asked me."
Kevin
"Yeah. Sorry, we encouraged you to participate in breaking the rules. I'll tell your dad that."

Yes kevin you are correct rules are in place to make sure you guys are safe and to minimize the possibility of you getting hurt. Jenny Samuel and Kevin broke a rule now samuel is hurt if they would have not broke the rule they would not have even been out there on the horse at all

*wondering what happened, but noticing that Samuel seems to be hurt*

pulls up to the hospital parks the car all right y'all let's go going to the hospital I sign now we have to wait on the doctor

*sits down and waits, quietly*

The nurse The nurse comes and takes us to a room she says the doctor will be with you shortly
The lack of chairs in the room our children sit on the floor by the wall no loud talking please Samual you may sit in this chair until the doctor comes I will sit in the other chair

*looks at my arm, which appears to have gotten dirt and leaves in it*

*rinses Samuels arm off getting everything off* I hope your arm did not get infected with all that dirt and stuff

"Are they going to have to do something to make sure it didn't?"

Yeah they will check it out and make sure when they come in

*sees the doctor come in, and looks a bit scared*

*curious, having never been to the doctor before*

Doctor: hello what seems to be the problem today?
Sameul fell off a horse while riding. He hurt his arm. He should not have been out there in the first place without adult supervision but since he was here we are
Doctor: Alright Samuel we gonna have to take an X-ray of that arm

"Okay. I've never had an x-ray before."
Amber and Jenny
*both wondering what an x-ray is*

An e Ray is just when we take a picture of your arm but it's special because we can see inside of your arm so you can see your bones

"annoyed* "I know what an x-ray is." *thinking that it's kind of cool to be getting one*
Sally
*move onto broken arm*
Samuel
*flinch in pain, pick her up with opposite hand*

All right let's go to the x-ray room just you and I will go and we will leave everyone else in here and when we're done we will come back and I'll go get the results and be back so you all at the same time OK

*follow the doctor to the x-ray room, with Ms. China*

doctor: miss China can you please stay with the children and watch them in the room me and Samuel will just head up
Ok. Goes back to the room.
The doctor take Samuel up to the room gets the x-ray does all that other stuff bring Samuel back down to the room with us*
Doctor: all right Sam I'm going to go get your results and I'll be back stay here with its China and everyone in I'll be back shortly

*desperately hope for good news*

*driving the truck back home* "Ms. Womzie, I hate to ask you this, but do you dislike me?"
Ms. Womzie
"No, why would you think that?" *think about how I used to think that Ms. China hated me*
Mr. Whites
*you appear to tense up when I come around, and you seem to try to avoid me*
Ms. Womzie
"I'm sorry. I have an irrational fear of men, especially large men like yourself." *thinking that it didn't used to be so irrational, and wishing that my dad hadn't encouraged it, but the fact that I never got over it is pathetic*
Mr. Whites
"I'm sorry to hear that, but you don't have to be scared of me."
Ms. Womzie
"I know. I've been trying not to be. It's just hard."
Mr. Whites
"Well, you are making progress. You did agree to let me come with you."
Ms. Womzie
*smiles, glad he's not too upset by it* "I'm glad you came along. You we're very helpful." *even if being alone in the truck with him is kind of scary*
Mr. Whites
"Thank you."

*get home and realize that no one, except for the horses, is home*

*call Ms. China*
Doctor
*comes back in* "Fortunately for you it's just a hairline fracture. It will probably take about a month to heal, but we never really know." *starts prepping arm for cast, and making sure the scraps around it are clean*

All right thank you so much Dr. go head and put his cast on and everything that you need to do while I step out and take this phone call
*answers my phone when ms.womzie calls* Hello?

"Where did everyone go?"

We are at the hospital because people felt like breaking the rules and riding horses without adult supervision

"Oh no. What happened?"

Jenny Kevin and Samuel. We're out riding horses and Samuel fell off and now he has a hairline fracture in his arm

"Oh dear. Should me and Mr. Whites come down there?"

Yes the only one that was hurt was Samuel

He is getting a cast put on him now he says his arm hurts but that's what I get for breaking rules because if you wasn't out there on the horse in the first place he wouldn't of gotten hurt

*sigh* "I'll talk to them about it when they get home."

Comes back into the room after finishing talking to her the doctor says he's finished with the cast and everything and he's good to go and that you will notify me up an appointment in a couple of weeks to see how everything is healing I say OK we all leave when we get back to the house I let the kids get out of the car and go inside

"Hi Ms. China. Kevin, Samuel and Jenny, would you three mind telling me exactly how this incident happened?"
Kevin
"Well, we wanted to race and we didn't want to wait until you two got home. We feared that Mickey had a disadvantage, from being old, so I invited Jenny to ride Jewel with me and add some extra weight. Since I asked her, she thought it was okay. We'll we we're racing, Samuel lost his balance and fell off."
Ms. Womzie
"Well that was dumb. Your grounded from riding for two weeks."
Kevin
*nods, sadly*
Ms. Womzie
Samuel, I hope you've already learned your lesson from you injury."
Samuel
"Yes."
Ms. Womzie
"Good."
Mr. Whites
"Jenny, just because the big kid say it's okay doesn't mean it is. No riding for two days."
Jenny
*sadly* "Okay."
